#EveryDayinMay - Taking a Chance

Well, if all is going as planned, I'm finishing up my overnight hike and will be headed home later this afternoon. I'm writing this late Friday night, so that I don't break my #EveryDayinMay posting trend! Monday I will have a post up all about what I learned on the trail.

Perhaps I'll come back with exciting pictures like this!

* * *

Friday was a strange day. Work was hectic, I lost my best friend of 13 years, and an interesting opportunity came rolling my way.

Because the entire day was so filled with ups and downs, and because I was also supposed to be finalizing my preparations for our hike and finishing up some curriculum writing obligations, I didn't have enough time to really think through all the ramifications that this opportunity could mean for me. And trust me, their are plenty of great reasons to go boldly forward... and a few questions that need answering before I feel confident enough to jump.

I'm glad to have this time in the woods to reflect on what this means and think deeply about the possibilities before making a final decision. I can't say much more than that, but this is big folks. Big and scary and wonderful.

More soon! For now, I hope you're enjoying this glorious Sunday of a long holiday weekend and all it has to offer, surrounded by your loved ones with plenty of time to just drink it all in. The memories, people. Drink in the memories. What did you think I was talking about?

  1. You know, I always *think* I'm going to have all kinds of time to think things through and ponder life while I'm out hiking, but instead 90% of my thoughts end up being taken up by "I hope I don't slip on this rock and die. This is a really big hill. Oh, look, a turtle. I hope I don't get eaten by a bear. I hope I don't slip in this mud and die...."

  2. Oh man, this is so true! So much energy went into simply remaining vertical that not much brain power was left for anything else! So much for deep, reflective time in the woods. ;)
