"Swack! My right hand made contact with my three-year old's bottom as my left hand wrenched away the marker she'd been using to draw a mural on her bedroom wall. She was startled. I was furious."
This really upset me. The words "swack" and "wrenched" don't feel like necessary words when discussing how to discipline a child, especially a three year old.
At least by the end of the article, the writer said she had given up spanking. I guess that's good. Those first words made me cringe, though.
