After reading Crystal's pantoum, and Alison's, I decided to join the club. It's untitled, as always, and my first attempt at anything with ANY sort of structure whatsoever, so don't expect a lot! I like it, because it is different, and because I actually finished it (or the first draft, anyhow). So, here it is...

The pendulum swings
a silent cascade of motion
keeping time with our lives
threatening to come to a halt

A silent cascade of motion
children play in the last embrace of summer
threatening to come to a halt
sticky fingers and barefoot toes giggle through the sunlit grass

Children play in the last embrace of summer
couples dance in the darkness
sticky fingers and barefoot toes giggle through the sunlit grass
soft music drawing them closer to the edge

Couples dance in the darkness
whispering words the float away, unheard
soft music drawing them closer to the edge
their secrets lost to the darkness

whispering words that float away, unheard
an old man sits at his lover's bedside
their secrets lost to the darkness
the only sound betweem them, unnatural and barren

an old man sits at his lover's bedside
the pendulum swings
the only sound between them, unnatural and barren
keeping time with our lives
